Introduction

Livestock Economics covers principles of Livestock Economics, Microeconomics, Production Economics, Market Structures and Livestock policy; project planning monitoring and evaluation of livestock projects; Business Management of Livestock and Veterinary enterprises. Staff are involved in teaching both undergraduate and post-graduate students, research and consultancy in the same areas.

Dr. S. M. Macharia

BVM, MSc, Health Economics and Entrepreneurship (UoN)

Dr. Macharia is a trained Veterinary Surgeon at Nairobi, University, with a BVM Degree and a Masters Degree in Public Health-(Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Health Economics and  Entrepreneurship). He is currently a lecturer at both Undergraduate and Post-Graduate levels and a researcher in those disciplines for the last 18 years. Prof. Joseph M. Gathuma

B. V.Sc., MSc., Ph.D (University of Nairobi)

Prof. Gathuma has also held numerous appointments as researcher and consultant in many private, public, regional and international organizations. He has gained extensive experience in animal health and related issues under pastoral systems especially in Kenya, South Sudan and Somalia. Prof. Gathuma has served as a consultant for the following organizations: FAO, UNDP, UNEP, World Bank, EC, Land `O` Lakes/USAID, USAID/Technoserve, Pathfinder/USAID, SNV Netherlands Development Organization, GOK,  SIDA, GOK/World Bank, GEF/UNEP/AGREF, NORAD, KARI/ODA, KARI/DFID, MIAC/USAID, ILRI, ICIPE, AGREF/Bayer E.A, Hoechst E.A Ltd., Terra Nuova/AMREF, Kenya National Academy of Sciences, Catholic Diocese of Torit, South Sudan and VSF-Belgium.
